Have you visited the National Flood Insurance Program’s (NFIP) special website for agents lately? It’s worth the visit – FloodSmart Website. The resource has many faces, and it is just one of the tools available to flood insurance agents besides their main support: the flood insurance provider they underwrite with.

Flood insurance has a special language and requires a specific sales knowledge. Agents.FloodSmart.gov offers agents the resources and tools to help them “speak flood” and assist their customers with the basics of claims and underwriting for the policies they sell. The site is always expanding and evolving to meet the needs of flood insurance communicators.

What can Agents.FloodSmart.gov offer you?

The site has a broad range of information to help agents sell flood insurance. These are only a few.

• FloodSmart Agent Newsletters and Alerts. Agents who join the FloodSmart program can receive seasonal newsletters with the latest information from FloodSmart to help educate both existing and potential clients about their flood risk and the importance of purchasing a flood insurance policy. Timely email alert notices will also provide legislative updates, new FloodSmart materials and resources, and other program changes.

• The FloodSmart Agent Referral Program. Register for the FloodSmart referral program and you can receive personalized site access and free qualified leads.
